About openlanddata

Making Denmark’s land data easier to understand.

openlanddata brings public data on fields, crops and land projects together on an interactive map. Explore a location, compare years and discover local patterns, with access to the sources behind them.

01

Open data should be easy to use

Public land data can tell us a great deal about the landscape around us. Large files and unfamiliar terms can make it difficult to get started. openlanddata brings that information into your browser through maps, statistics and explanations. It is a free, ad-free and independent hobby project run by Morten Fjord. Contact: support@openlanddata.com.

02

How we work with the data

01

Make sources visible

You should be able to see who published the data, which period it covers and where to find the original.

02

Put the data in context

See a field in its local area, explore different layers and switch between years to build a broader picture.

03

Explain the terminology

The glossary and documentation help you understand data fields, calculations and the limitations of each dataset.

04

Review new data

We check the map display, data fields and source information before making new editions available. Provisional data is clearly labelled.

03

Sources, responsibility and technology

The data comes from public bodies. We prepare it for maps and summaries and show you where to find the originals. The sources page brings together publisher details, credits and reuse terms.
