Understand the data

Crop

The plant or land use declared for an agricultural field.

Definition

In agricultural field data, crop describes what was declared for an area in a specific edition. The value may be a cultivated plant, grass, fallow land or another accepted land use.

Why it matters

Crop values support analysis of land use and change over time. Names and declaration rules can change, so the value should be interpreted together with its crop code and edition.
