What does it mean?

Status describes each project’s registered stage. Compare investigation commitments, establishment commitments and construction, with sketches kept separate.

How it is calculated

Each MARS ID is counted once. National registered project areas are summed without dissolving overlapping projects: this is a total of registrations, not unique land. The municipality with the largest geometric overlap receives the entire registration; ties use the lowest municipality code. Status retains the source’s investigation commitment, establishment commitment or constructed categories. Sketches are counted separately.

OpenLandData: pinned sources, geometry repair, unique coverage and documented municipality allocation. The validation report records source checksums and reconciliation.

What to keep in mind

  • Constructed is a source status, not proof of restored nature or measured environmental effects.
  • A municipality’s assigned registered area can include land in neighbouring municipalities. Use the overlap story for physical land area.
  • Sketches are proposals, not applications, approvals or completed projects. No conversion rate is calculated.
  • The sketch source has 63 records with zero registered hectares; they still count as sketches.
  • Snapshot dated 1 September 2026. Source registrations may since have changed.
