Understand the data

Natura 2000

A European network of areas designated to protect particular habitats and species.

Definition

Natura 2000 includes habitat sites and bird protection areas. Each site’s designation basis identifies the habitats and species targeted for protection.

Why it matters

OpenLandData shows combined Natura 2000 boundaries on land and sea. A boundary does not map uniform habitat or assess its condition. Consult the authority’s plans for the individual site.
