Understand the data

Section 3 protected nature

Habitats covered by Section 3 of the Danish Nature Protection Act. The map registration is indicative.

Definition

Section 3 covers habitats including lakes, bogs, heathland, meadows, salt marshes and grassland where the legal conditions are met. Municipalities maintain the indicative register.

Why it matters

An area may be protected without appearing in the register. OpenLandData shows registered polygons, not watercourses or ecological condition. The municipality can clarify protection of a specific area.
