Understand the data

Ecological condition

An assessment of a habitat’s condition based on information including species and habitat structure.

Definition

Ecological condition is assessed using a specified method and evidence. Danish habitat mapping considers factors such as plant species, vegetation and pressures on the habitat.

Why it matters

A protection boundary or large nature-area share is not itself a condition assessment. OpenLandData’s nature and protection layers show records and designations, not an overall ecological-condition score.
