Understand the data

Small biotope

A small habitat in the landscape, such as scrub, a pond or an uncultivated patch.

Definition

Small biotopes provide habitats and variety in agricultural landscapes. In OpenLandData, the layer shows the small biotopes reported to SGAV in the selected edition.

Why it matters

The reports are not a complete habitat inventory. They do not establish creation dates or ecological condition. Application rules and terminology can change between years.
