How it is calculated
Field geometry is intersected with Kulstof2022 and municipality boundaries. Areas are measured in m² and converted using 10,000 m² per hectare. Crops follow the pinned taxonomy 1.1.0. Overlap within a group is dissolved; land claimed by multiple crop groups is shown as ambiguous. Rankings use overlap as a share of geometric field area or hectares. National figures include unassigned land.

Validation report and source checksumsWhat to keep in mind
- Geometric areas are calculated in EPSG:25832. Overlapping polygons count once within each dataset.
- Kulstof2022 is modelled. The map does not determine whether a particular property can or should be taken out of production.
- Source normalization leaves 94,863 of 1,702,479 Kulstof2022 records empty or without area. The validation report accounts for them; this is not a measure of missing hectares.
- Small overlaps between municipality boundaries go to the lowest municipality code. Land outside the boundaries is shown as unassigned.
- Fields are annual declarations, not property boundaries. This story uses 2025; 2026 is provisional.
- Geometric areas can differ from declared hectares in the other field stories. Groups follow the export source’s taxonomy and can be more detailed.
