Allocation model

The method used to distribute a coastal catchment's total discharge ceiling across regulated field areas.

Definition

SGAV uses the VISA model, which incorporates soil type and runoff, and under higher regulatory pressure a combination in which 75% is allocated using VISA and 25% equally per hectare using a flat model.

Why it matters

The allocation model is one reason discharge limits can vary within the same catchment. Its name is neither a measurement of field discharge nor a management recommendation.
